By: FEDweek StaffOPM’s latest quarterly summary of actions on its agency priority goals includes:
Under the goal of streamlining the hiring process—the launch of additional pooled hiring actions to support the Tech to Gov and AI talent surge efforts; and work on cross-government actions for customer experience strategists on pooled/shared hiring actions and on the USAJOBS portal that enables agencies to share lists of qualified candidates.
Under the goal of positioning the government as the employer of choice for military and veteran spouses and early career talent—releasing a strategic plan on military and veteran spouse, military caregiver and survivor hiring and retention; upgrades to a database that helps agencies find and hire individuals who had completed internships but were unable to secure permanent employment; and continued work to finalize proposed rules to the Pathways Program.
Under the goal of enabling critical human capital decision making for agencies and employees—creating a new measure of employees’ satisfaction with their ability to access their data on benefits and personnel actions using the legacy system of eOPF; and drafting a policy for agencies on data quality.
Under the goal of standing up the new Postal Service Health Benefits Program—standing up a platform for Postal Service retirees who have not voluntarily enrolled in Medicare Part B to do so without the usual financial penalty for enrolling late, a “special enrollment period” that will continue through September.
OPM has issued guidance on automatic enrollment in the Postal Service Health Benefits program for 2025 if U.S. Postal Service employees and retirees currently covered by the FEHB do not specifically elect an insurance plan in that new program during the open season this fall.
