The Office of Personnel Management says it is helping to
drive traffic to the Department of Defense’s SOFIA website,
established in 2003 to hire federal employees to work for the
Coalition Provisional Authority and staff Iraq and Afghanistan
reconstruction efforts.
It said a link on USAJobs has contributed to the 415,655 page
views SOFIA has received. The centralized civilian recruitment
program of the Army medical command also uses SOFIA to recruit
for a variety of healthcare and medical support personnel,
which are in critical need, said OPM.
DoD says it is seeking federal civilian employees in “civil
engineering, banking, agriculture, education, communications
and security,” and that “individuals will be hired by the
department through the U.S. Army, which is the executive
agent, for a 12-month period with the option to extend.”
DoD also said prospective applicant must be willing to live
under field conditions and that foreign language facility and
prior military experience are not prerequisites.
