OPM has issued a reminder on steps that can be taken to limit transmission of influenza and other illnesses as flu season gets under way, and it has called on agencies to encourage employees to stay at home when they are sick.
It noted in a memo that while someone could have the flu without a fever, encouraging employees to stay home until they have been fever-free for 24 hours (without fever-reducing medication) is recommended.
It also asked agencies to remind employees about the availability of flu vaccine, as well as the importance of maintaining a healthy workplace, and said additional flu prevention information is available online at www.flu.gov–including resources such as announcements and posters that agencies can use to get the word out to limit the flu taking hold in agencies.
