Following a recent A-76 competition, the Office of
Personnel Management has announced that it will remove
116 secretarial, office automation and administrative
support positions from its offices in Washington D.C.
and Pennsylvania.
OPM said it would offer transition services to the
displaced employees, and that the 52-month $16.8 million
contract requires Transtecs Corp. to make job offers “to
qualified employees,” if their jobs are moved to the company.
“The agreement we have with Transtecs eases the transition
for many people who likely will accept the company’s offer
of employment,” said OPM.
OPM said it offered buyouts and early outs to affected
employees, and has stopped hiring for the time being in
clerical and technical positions at the GS-7 level and
below in order “to match qualified displaced employees
with other unfilled jobs” — and added that it would work
with other agencies to find jobs for displaced employees
and use a firm that specializes in placing administrative staff.
