OPM is seeking agencies willing to participate in GovConnect, an initiative to foster a more mobile, agile, innovative and skilled workforce unburdened by organizational silos.
According to OPM, some agencies have begun piloting approaches to share talent across their enterprise, such as the EPA Skills Marketplace, GSA Project Network, and State Department FLEXConnect.
GovConnect will provide both an overarching program and technological capability that encourages and enables, for example, rapid assembly of skills-based teams and deployment of talent within and across agencies, said OPM.
It said senior level champions and sustained senior leadership are needed to provide visible support for the initiative. These leaders will also play a key role in securing buy-in from key stakeholders such as unions and front-line supervisors at agency headquarters and regional offices.
