By: FEDweek StaffThe National Park Service and the Postal Service topped the favorability ratings among federal agencies in a recent Pew Research survey of some 10,000 members of the public that also found overall favorable impressions of 14 of the 16 that were included.
The Park Service received a favorable rating from 81 percent and an unfavorable one from just 7 percent, for a net favorable score of 74. For the USPS, the figures were 77, 20 and 57. NASA had the second-smallest unfavorable rating, from 9 percent, versus 74 percent favorable for an overall favorable score of 65. Other agencies with the highest scores included SSA, CDC and VA.
The IRS had the lowest score, a negative 9, seen as unfavorable by 51 percent and favorable by 42 percent; the Department of Education’s score also was negative at -2, seen as favorable by 45 percent but unfavorable by 47 percent. Other agencies with the lowest scores included the Federal Reserve, the CIA and the Justice Department.
