
The latest quarterly update (on performance.gov) of agency actions under the President’s Management Agenda highlights initiatives focused on employee retention and engagement under the “strengthening and empowering the federal workforce” element.
“This includes the newly released intern conversion database in the USAJOBS Agency Talent Portal for agencies to access and find high performing interns eligible for full-time employment opportunities,” it says. Further, it says, finalization of rules to prevent creation of a new “Schedule F” by executive order “ensure that all 2.3 million federal employees can continue to carry out their duties with confidence, regardless of any changes in administration.”
Other actions listed include OPM updates to its HR competency model, which lists technical competencies and associated tasks for multiple specialty areas, “to better identify skill gaps and enhance skills for building capabilities government-wide”; guidance on pay flexibilities for hiring in artificial intelligence-related positions; a webinar series on innovative hiring practices, mental health and DEIA; and GSA’s offerings of what are now seven federal coworking sites.
Under the customer experience element, it highlighted completion of assessments by high-impact service providers; a partnership between the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services with the United States Digital Service “to help states make their systems more accurate and efficient; and efforts under the “life experiences” program.
Under the managing the business of government element, it highlighted OMB’s revisions of the Guidance for Federal Financial Assistance, commonly known as the “uniform guidance,” which sets the foundational requirements for agencies in making grants and providing other forms of financial assistance.
