The federal government suffered the highest net negative ratings in a recent poll by the Gallup organization, the latest in a series of studies reaching much the same conclusion.
The government scored a net -27 rating among sectors, with just 28 percent of respondents positive and 55 percent negative (the highest of any sector) and the rest neutral. The organization said the findings reflect “persistently low public trust” in the federal government.
Top-ranked industries in the poll of some 1,000 adults included the restaurant, net 59 percent positive; computer, 53; grocery, 36; farming and agriculture, 35; accounting, 33; and travel, 32, industries.
