Federal Manager's Daily Report

The Small Business Administration has begun an aggressive

campaign to hire loan officers and construction analysts to

work in its disaster field offices in the 11 states and Puerto

Rico that received the brunt of the damage at home from this

year’s devastating hurricanes.

It said disaster workers are desperately needed to support

recovery efforts, and that it was also hiring staff to process

loans in its four disaster field offices.

“The additional people we hire on the local level will not

only ensure the continued speed of the disaster loan making

process, but will contribute to the local economy as well,”

said SBA Administrator Hector V. Barreto.

Loan officer candidates should have banking and mortgage

lending experience and backgrounds in financial statement

analysis and credit decision-making — and construction

analysts, needed to perform property damage assessments,

should have experience in residential and commercial

construction, said SBA.

It said salaries would range from $26,000 to $49,000 with

overtime at $19 to $32 per hour.

Since mid August, SBA has mobilized nearly 1,000 field

staff working in disaster recovery areas, and approved

over $129 million in disaster loans to victims of

Hurricanes Charley, Frances, Ivan, Typhoon Chaba.
