The General Services Administration’s office of government-wide policy has recognized nine innovative ideas for asset management and sustainability as part of its annual real property innovation awards.
The winners were chosen for demonstrating innovation, creativity and leading practices in property management by a panel real property professionals representing the public and private sector, according to GSA.
GSA’s own automated advanced acquisition program, run by the public buildings service for the national capital region won top honors for asset management.
Finalists were NASA’s real property portfolio improvement program, and GSA’s real property information sharing program, with the award for special achievement going to GSA’s creative partnering to achieve asset management goals in historic assets, run by its public buildings service for the Greater Southwest region.
GSA’s Denver federal center environmental management system – framework for a sustainable campus — run by its public buildings service in the Rocky Mountain region won in the area of real property innovation.
Finalists for property innovation included EPA’s program, Reaching for “Green”, Achieving Gold in a Speculative Building, run by its Arlington, Va. offices, the National Park Service’s “Sustainable is Attainable” program at Whitman Mission National Historic Site, and another GSA project, “Innovative Leasing Policy” in Region Six.
The Army Corps of Engineers was recognized for special achievement for its Military Facilities Sustainable Design and Development Rating Programs.
