The Telework Exchange gave GSA a "tele-vision" award in recognition of an approach to IT allowing it to migrate to a mobile IT solution, one ultimately increasing its ability to telework through greater organizational mobility.
The Telework Exchange gave GSA the award at a ceremony in Washington, D.C. this month for its A3 strategy – "any device, anywhere, anytime."
It said GSA employees have secure remote access to email and other resources from outside the agency’s firewall and that the A3 strategy "serves as a teleworking blueprint for the entire federal government."
The Telework Exchange also gave the Department of Agriculture an award for increasing the percentage of its workforce that is eligible to telework from 15 percent in 2010 to 76 percent today. About 7,500 USDA employees pledged to participate in telework week.
It said USDA has saved about $2 million so far on funding for its transit subsidy program based on telework participation projections and program goals.
