The House has passed HR-1656, which would authorize the Secret Service to hire 200 additional uniformed law enforcement personnel and another 80 for the Presidential detail and to construct new training facilities, while directing it to establish an office to provide ethics training for employees.
According to a CBO analysis, the agency says it already has hiring and construction initiatives fitting the bill’s goals underway.
The bill also would broaden the protections against unauthorized access to restricted federal buildings and grounds.
