Federal Manager's Daily Report

The Senate meanwhile has approved an amendment to the immigration reform bill that would limit federal reimbursement for contractor executives working on border security at that level – although contractors could continue to compensate executives as they otherwise see fit.

Sequestration and the tight budget environment are in part driving the scrutiny of contractor salaries. Opponents of the limits say they will drive away top talent while those for it argue that the limits would only apply to what the federal government must reimburse.

The Senate voted 72-26 to add the amendment to the Border Security, Economic Opportunity, and Immigration Modernization Act, S-744.
