A newly introduced bipartisan Senate bill (S-2032) would target “legacy” IT systems in use by federal agencies by requiring agencies to develop an inventory of such systems, craft modernization plans to update or dispose of it, under guidance from OMB.

Other recently introduced bills include:

* S-1931 and HR-3627, to generally require newly built and renovated federal office buildings to reflect “traditional and classical architecture.” The bill in effect would reinstate a policy issued by executive order late in the Trump administration which was revoked by the Biden administration.

* HR-3980, would remove the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration from the Commerce Department and make it an independent agency.
