The Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee will consider President Obama’s pick as the next OMB director on Thursday.

Obama chose Jacob Lew, who led OMB for part of the Clinton presidency to succeed Peter Orszag. Lew is currently the deputy secretary of state for management and resources and also serves as chief operating officer.

The Senate Budget Committee will also hold a hearing on Lew, who during the Bush administration served as the president of New York University, then later as the managing director and COO of Citi Alternative Investments.
