Federal Manager's Daily Report

Three types of turnover among federal employees increased in 2014 over 2013, OPM has reported.

It said that government-wide retirements (excluding the Postal Service) in 2014 reached 67,684, up from 64,220 in 2013. Resignations of employees rose from 49,635 to 50,721, and transfers from one agency to another rose from 17,677 to 20,274.

The data were part of the recent report on Hispanic representation, and were presented in the context of comparing turnover among that group of employees against the workforce as a while.

The patterns also held true specifically among Hispanics, with increases in all three categories. For that group, turnover is being watched especially closely since both recruitment and retention are elements of the initiative to increase their under-representation in the federal workforce compared with their share of the overall American workforce.
