Federal Manager's Daily Report

The number of women in the Senior Executive Service has increased slowly but steadily every year since 2008, according to an overview prepared by an OPM planning and policy analysis group.

In fiscal 2008 there were 2,243 women to 5,493 men, with the gap closing to 2,678 women and 5,326 men out of 8,004 total in fiscal 2012, for a nearly five percentate point increase in the representation of women over that period.

Education level has remained relatively constant over the period. An SES member is about three times as likely to have an advanced degree than just a college degree. In fiscal 2012, 5,556 senior executives had advanced degrees while 1,895 had college degrees only.
