The Office of Disability Adjudication and Review said in its annual report that it increased productivity and for the second year in a row succeeded with its Aged Case initiative.
It dismissed 16,838 hearing requests after the Disability Determination Services made fully favorable determinations, and senior attorney adjudicators issued an additional 24,575 allowances while continuing to write decisions on cases that went to hearing.
A findings integrated templates decision writing system resulted in fewer remands from the federal courts, said SSA, adding that benefited from hiring 190 additional administrative law judges and opened a national hearing center last year as well.
