The Biden administration has posted (on performance.gov) a quarterly update on activities under the President’s Management Agenda, at its two-year mark.

Under the priority of strengthening the federal workforce, it cited: exceeding the goal of hiring more than 5,800 targeted positions to support implementation of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law; the executive order on development and safe use of artificial intelligence including “calls for a surge in national AI talent, including training and development of the federal workforce”; and a tech job fair “which had 1,400 attendees and included a five-part training series to better recruit and hire technical talent from the private sector.”

An OPM-specific section in addition cited: its support for hiring in positions including in the STEM, IT and HR fields; launching of interactive workforce dashboards including the Federal Employee Viewpoint Survey and data on DEIA, attrition, time to hire and cyber positions; pooled hiring efforts to support hiring in HR and IT fields; and finalization of rules to carry out a law specifying when and what agencies can ask a job candidate about criminal history.

Under the priority of delivering excellent customer service, the posting cited beginning to transition from the planning stages to the implementation stages the “life experience” projects to provide central resources for all government services related to certain life events such as retirement.

Under the priority of managing the business of government, it cited establishing parity in contracting certification programs between the DoD and other agencies to open the way for more career movement of acquisition employees; and starting work toward similarly identifying core competencies for the financial assistance positions.
