The Office of Special Counsel has announced that it helped two TSA employees whohad reported wrongdoing at the Syracuse Hancock International Airport and then experienced retaliation, leading to the voluntary demotion and transfer of their supervisor.
The employees – a program analyst and an administrative officer – received full corrective action after an OSC investigation confirmed allegations of being retaliated against (a letter or reprimand in one case, a proposed 14-day suspension in another), after the employees reported misuse of government vehicles and financial rewards as well as a hostile work environment through internal channels at DHS, according to OSC.
It said further details were kept confidential under the terms of a settlement agreement, which resulted in both employees being made whole, and the supervisor accepting a voluntary demotion and a transfer to another location.
