The Department of Veterans Affairs has canceled a $102.6 million contract to develop part of its integrated electronic health record (iEHR) system.
ASM Research was awarded the contract in January through VA’s $12 billion T4 program to develop a means to allow components of the system to communicate with one another.
Just a day before the contract was terminated on February 28 defense secretary Leon Panetta and VA secretary Eric Shinseki met to discuss steps forward on electronic health records, among other issues.
Following the meeting DoD noted that the Interagency Program Office established by the two departments to provide leadership in building the joint integrated electronic health records system now has new leadership.
