The Department of Veterans Affairs has announced that it wants to increase the number of disabled veterans in its workforce.
The department, 30 percent of whose workforce consists of veterans, the second highest proportion behind DoD, said all severely injured veterans of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan would be contacted by its Veterans Employment Coordination Service to determine their interest in, and qualifications for, VA jobs.
The coordination service was established last year to recruit veterans into VA and has nine regional coordinators working with local facility HR offices across the country to reach out to potential job candidates and ensure that local managers know about special authorities available to hire veterans.
