Federal Manager's Daily Report

A survey of agency wellness programs conducted by OPM yielded a range of results, with scores assigned based on OPM criteria ranging from 10 percent to a perfect 100 percent; the average was 61.5 percent.

Overall, agencies scored the highest in addressing vaccine-preventable diseases, occupational health and safety, and tobacco-free living, OPM said in a memo reporting the results. Agencies have the most room for improvement in the areas of nutrition, lactation support, and organizational supports, it said.

Wellness strategies most used include flu vaccinations at the worksite (84 percent of components responding to the survey); having functioning automated external defibrillators in place (82 percent); a written policy banning tobacco use at the site (79 percent); a private space other than a restroom to express breast milk (77 percent); stress management programs (75 percent); and an on-site exercise facility (70 percent).

By agency component, the top rankings went to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration; Immigration and Customs Enforcement; Army Installation Management Command, USA-Detroit Arsenal; the NASA Langley Research Center; and the Forest Service.
