Federal Manager's Daily Report

The White House’s fiscal 2014 budget proposal requests $114 million to support, expand and enhance E-Verify, DHS’s online system employers can use to check the employment eligibility status of employees.

According to the budget request, funds would be used to improve fraud-prevention and detection capabilities, modernize E-Verify customer service to improve ease of use, and invest in additional capacity to support continued expansion.

More than 430,000 employers are currently enrolled in E-Verify and the program continues to grow by approximately 1,500 new employers each week. The requested funds would also be used to enhance E-Verify self-check, which individuals can use to check their status.
