GSA has announced the award of a blanket purchase agreement designed to allow the government to better manage wireless spending by consolidating service plans and centralizing management.
Federal agencies spend an estimated $1.3 billion on wireless services and mobile devices annually. The agreements, with AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, and Verizon could save some $300 million over five years, according to GSA, by providing access to a pool of unused minutes within their wireless plan, enabling them to consolidate minutes and save money.
"These agreements give agencies the ability to pool minutes, order plans and devices more efficiently and have greater visibility into their purchases," said acting GSA administrator Dan Tangherlini.
