Among bills recently introduced in Congress are:

S-3487, which would increase the death benefit paid to federal employees killed in the line of duty from $10,000 to the $100,000 for deaths in the line of duty and increase that amount annually by inflation; and increase the payment for funeral expenses from $800 to $8,000, also inflation-adjusted.

S-3492, to expand training opportunities at the State Department for both civil service and foreign service employees, with an emphasis on career-long training oriented toward promotional opportunities and assignments, along with appointment of a chief learning officer and creation of an outside board to make recommendations regarding training at the Foreign Service Institute.

HR-6327 and S-3415, which would specify that the federal government and federal employees can be sued for constitutional violations such as but not necessarily limited to law enforcement misconduct; and allow plaintiffs to sue government officers in their official capacity for monetary damages.
