OPM has put out a call to agencies for more donations by federal employees of annual leave to the emergency leave transfer program set up in the wake of Hurricane Katrina last year. Under emergency leave sharing, employees may donate up to 13 days of annual leave and recipients may get up to 30 days of leave. OPM said it recently received notice from two agencies with affected employees that they needed about 18,000 more hours (more than 2,200 days) of additional leave and that additional requests from other agencies are expected. Employees should contact their agency’s emergency leave transfer coordinator.
