Catch-Ups Don’t Carry Over

TSP participants who made catch-up contributions last year might mistakenly assume that a new catch-up will kick in automatically once they hit this year’s $15,000 dollar cap. However, a separate catch-up election must be made each year; elections do not carry over from year to year, as regular TSP contribution elections do. The 2007 TSP catch-up limit will remain $5,000.
