Under the terms of the settlement, class members were allowed to challenge the amounts calculated for them-many of them were dismayed at how little they stand to receive-but they could contest only certain data used in the calculation. The period for filing a challenge expired October 27. That was also the deadline for filing a claim for class membership. However, class members–or survivors acting on behalf of a deceased class member–who wish to file a claim for payment (not a claim for class membership or a challenge to a calculated payment) who did not file a claim by the October 27 deadline have until October 27, 2004 to file. Belated filers will not receive any payments until the final distribution, which will not be for at least another year.
