The second session of the current Congress-the Senate returns to work on the 18th and the House on the 31st–will have to pick up where the first left off on many issues of importance to federal employees and retirees, since work was not completed in 2005 on many issues, some of them long-running. This work will be in addition to the usual work involved in the annual budget cycle, which is where the annual federal raise is determined and where any significant changes to federal benefits might occur.
