Meanwhile, the FLTCIP carrier has said that enrollees will have about six weeks after receiving a notice of their options to select a change in coverage if they desire. Current enrollees will have a one-time opportunity to switch to the new benefit options that will become available without undergoing underwriting—answering questions about their health. They also will be able to increase their benefits, but underwriting may be required for that. The new benefit offerings will include, among others: higher home health care reimbursement; the choice of a two-year benefit period, in addition to the current options for three years, five years or lifetime coverage; and higher daily benefit amounts.
