Direct Hiring Authority Granted to Some

The Office of Personnel Management, in the first grant of authority under the new “direct hire” program, has allowed agencies to use that authority for hiring in certain health care and information security positions. The authority authorizes agencies to hire directly, without regard to the “rule of three” and certain other hiring policies, candidates for positions for which there is a shortage of candidates or a critical hiring need.
