Federal Drivers to Use Greener Cars

Provisions in the recently enacted economic stimulus bill seek to make the government’s vehicle fleet more green, the latest in a series of initiatives attempting to reduce the amount of energy the government uses and the amount of pollution it creates. The current GSA fleet contains about 80,000 alternative-fuel vehicles; GSA says it will work with federal agencies to determine the best method to evaluate vehicles eligible for replacement and fund those that would provide the largest benefit through decreased use of fuel and emission reduction.
