Free Look Provision in FLTCIP

With the open season enrollment period for the Federal Long Term Care Insurance Program now under way-it runs through December 31-the Office of Personnel Management is pointing out that the program carries a “30 Day Free Look” feature. After an applicant is approved and receives a benefit booklet from the carrier, within 30 days after the individual may cancel coverage and receive a full refund of any premium you already paid for the coverage. After the 30-day period coverage may be canceled at any time and premiums would stop but the only refund would be for any premium paid covering time after the effective date of the cancellation.
