The Office of Personnel Management has sent out a reminder that “grandfathered” retention allowances approved before last May 1 will expire no later than April 30. If a retention payment is still warranted for an affected employee, the agency may authorize a new retention incentive for the employee, OPM said. No action is required in the case of employees who are fulfilling service agreements for recruitment or relocation bonuses authorized before May 1, 2005.
