On the House side, the key committee handling federal workforce issues has been renamed the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee—the addition of “oversight” being a signal of the priority that Democrats will place on that in this Congress. New chairman Rep. Henry Waxman of California has realigned it to have five subcommittees. Rep. Danny Davis, D-Ill., will be the chairman of the federal workforce subcommittee, joined by Democrats Eleanor Holmes Norton, D.C., John Sarbanes, Md., Elijah Cummings, Md., Dennis Kucinich, Ohio, William Lacy Clay, Mo., and Stephen Lynch, Mass. Republican members will be Reps. Kenny Merchant, Texas, John McHugh, N.Y., John Mica, Fla., Darrell Issa, Calif., with one seat yet to be filled.
