Several measures recently introduced in Congress seek to improve certain federal law enforcement officer benefits. They are: HR-4763, which would exclude availability pay for criminal investigators from the limitations on premium pay, increase the special pay adjustments for law enforcement officers in eight metropolitan areas, and require a study of establishing a separate pay, evaluation and promotion system for law enforcement officers; HR-4770, which would make Federal Protective Service officers eligible for the special law enforcement officer retirement provisions; and HR-4809, which would make Secret Service Uniformed Division and Park Police officers eligible for improved locality pay adjustments.
