By: FEDweek StaffSen. Gary Peters, D-Mich., is continuing to chair the key Senate committee for federal workplace and benefit matters, the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, in this Congress as previously announced, while Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky has become the ranking Republican.
Sen. Kyrsten Sinema, I-Ariz., now chairs the main subcommittee on those matters, government operations and border management, with Sen. James Lankford of Oklahoma the ranking Republican. (Sinema is considered a Democrat for committee assignment purposes even though she recently changed her affiliation to Independent.)
Other members of the subcommittee are Sens. Tom Carper, D-Del.; Alex Padilla, D-Calif.; Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn.; Ron Johnson, R-Wisc.; and Mitt Romney, R-Utah.
