The Office of Personnel Management has released an updated list of states designated as “medically underserved” in the Federal Employees Health Benefits program, meaning that fee-for-service insurers in those states must cover treatment by any health care provider licensed to provide that treatment. The list of such states for 2003 is: Alabama, Idaho, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, New Mexico, North Dakota, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, West Virginia and Wyoming. Louisiana, Maine and West Virginia are new to the list, while Georgia has been removed from the list.
