OPM in the August 17 Federal Register published final rules making several minor changes in sick leave policy. It eliminated the requirement that an individual have at least 80 hours of unused sick leave in order to use more than five days of sick leave for family care and bereavement purposes, and it set a general requirement that employees who are required to present medical evidence of their need for sick leave must provide such evidence within 15 days (30 days in exceptional circumstances).
