Federal employees using their own vehicles while driving for official business will be reimbursed effective Feb. 4 at 30.5 cents per mile for using a motorcycle and $1.07 cents per mile for using aircraft, the General Services Administration has announced. That’s up by two and 6.5 cents per mile, respectively, from the former rates. The rate applying when a government vehicle is available rose as of that date to 28.5 cents, up 1.5 cents, while the rate when committed to use a vehicle remains 10.5 cents. GSA earlier announced an increase in the automobile mileage reimbursement rate for federal employees driving their own vehicles on official business to 40.5 cents per mile effective January 1, an increase of three cents per mile over the calendar 2004 rate.
