The General Services Administration has announced new per diem rates for federal travelers to be effective October 1. As in past years, many of the rates went up by several dollars. The rates consist of two parts, a lodgings component and a “meals and incidentals” component. For travel destinations without a specific lodgings rate, a standard rate applies, which will rise from $60 a day to $70. The M&IE component will continue to range from $39 to $64 a day, with the $39 rate continuing for destinations without specific per diem rates. The new rates also contain numerous administrative changes, such as changes in boundaries and changes in the dates of seasonal rates, for destinations whose rates vary.
