Effective with travel performed on or after April 27, wage grade employees are eligible for compensatory time off for traveling on official business during non-pay hours, equalizing that policy with that applying to general schedule employees. The change was ordered by the 2008 DoD authorization act which was finalized earlier this year. If an employee was on an extended period of official travel on the effective date, only the qualifying travel hours occurring on or after that date are creditable for the purpose of earning compensatory time off for travel, OPM has told agencies.
