After a period of severe swings in the markets during October, the TSP’s stock-oriented funds ended the month down substantially, with the small company stock S fund down 20.99 percent in the month, the international stock I fund down 20.59 percent and the large company stock C fund down 16.83 percent. Over the last 12 months, those funds have lost 37.69, 46.05 and 36.08 percent, respectively. The bond F fund also suffered a loss in October, of 2.4 percent, but remains in positive territory over 12 months with a 0.52 percent gain. The government securities G fund gained 0.31 percent in October for a 3.95 percent 12-month gain. The L fund October and 12-month returns (all losses) are: income, -3.44, -5.78; 2010, -5.41, -11.77; 2020, -11.1, -24.06; 2030, -13.4, -28.73; 2040, -15.4, -32.73.
