OPM has sent a memo to agencies asking them to help on two elements of its recently announced initiative to improve the telework program, creation of an advisory group to recommend policy changes and a review of existing agency policies. OPM told agencies to submit their policies for review by May 25 and said it will select from among the agencies a small group of telework coordinators to form the advisory group. OPM said it will evaluate all agency telework policies and will provide guidance on bringing them all up to standards. Other elements include creation of a telework managing officer in each agency, creation of an appeals process for employees whose requests for telework or other flexible work arrangements are denied, and improved training.
