OPM, SSA Announce Computer Match Program

Meanwhile, OPM has said it will begin a program of matching its records of FERS disability annuitants against SSA files to look for individuals who are receiving more benefits than they are due. OPM’s FERS disability annuitant list will be compared against those receiving disability benefits under SSA to determine whether the required offset of those two types of benefits is in effect. The two types of disability have differing eligibility requirements—with the SSA standards being higher—but for those eligible for both, a complex offset formula applies.
