In addition to the pay, classification and other rules now in the notice-and-comment stage, DHS is working on several other personnel initiatives including plans to: establish a department-wide human capital strategic plan; enhance leadership capability; deliver management training to increase supervisory skills; develop programs to support employees such as child care reimbursement, flexible work schedules, and employee assistance; develop new hiring strategies and procedures; put in place new technology to support human resources needs; and conduct an employee survey to gauge employee satisfaction and needs.
