New per diem rates take effect for official federal travel beginning October 1. GSA sets rates for some 400 localities as well as a standard rate for other destinations on a fiscal year basis. GSA recently announced that the standard $83 lodging allowance and $46 meals and incidentals expenses allowance will continue to apply. In many cases those components remained the same for individual destinations, although in some cases they are increasing substantially.
