The Merit Systems Protection Board has found that perceptions of supervisors versus non-supervisors differ regarding several aspects of federal employment, with supervisors overall more satisfied with their jobs, 79 to 70 percent, their pay, 70 to 59 percent, their supervisor, 71 to 63 percent, and how their agency treats them in employment-related matters, 71 to 58 percent. “There is a trend across many survey questions for supervisors, managers, and executives (from here, collectively referred to as supervisors) to view federal employment more favorably than non-supervisors,” MSPB said in a recent publication. Non-supervisory employees also are less likely to believe that they are kept well informed in the workplace, that they can openly express concerns and that their opinions count. However, slightly fewer supervisors, 60 percent, believe they have adequate resources to do their jobs than non-supervisors, 65 percent. The data come from a survey MSPB conducted last year.
