Both the House and Senate versions of the Transportation-Treasury bill (HR-5536) contain a 2.7 percent raise for GS employees and directions to apply the same raises to wage grade employees that GS employees in their local areas get. However, the Senate still hasn’t voted on the bill, leaving room for a lower amount in any final action. Much depends on the size of the raise for uniformed military personnel, which could end up at either 2.2 or 2.7 percent; officials say it would be very difficult to give civilian federal employees a raise higher than that going to the military.
